Mag Fhloinn – This well can be fairly easily accessed, by climbing a gate and crossing a field near the Lispole GAA pitch. The GPS location of this well is slightly off, and there is disagreement between the Cassini and older 25 inch and 6 inch maps about where the stream starts. The older maps seem to be the more accurate in terms of location, but none of them indicate that the spring is holy in any way, nor do they name it. When one is at the site, it is reasonably clear where it emerges, although traces of the slab lining mentioned by Ó Danachair are not apparent. There is some old rusted sheep wire bound up in the vegetation directly where the well emerges from the ground. It is fairly marshy in the ground above the well, and it is possible that the point of emergence may have changed location slightly over the years. There is a free-standing thorn tree above the well, but there is no indication if this forms part of any ritual significance, as can occasionally be the case at other holy wells around the country. The presence of quartz stone may be of significance, although it could alternatively be naturally occurring. (BMF 02/12/2021)
